An IndiGo flight operating from Doha to the Indian tech hub of Bengaluru was forced to make an emergency diversion on Thursday after an operating crew member experienced a sudden medical crisis mid-flight. Following standard aviation protocols, the pilots decided to divert flight 6E 1302 to Muscat, Oman, to ensure the unwell staff member received immediate medical assistance. Upon landing at Muscat International Airport, a waiting medical personnel team evaluated the crew member and administered necessary care. The crew member is currently reported to be in stable condition.
Alternative Aircraft arranged for Stranded Passengers
To minimize the inconvenience to passengers traveling to Bengaluru, the airline swiftly arranged a relief aircraft along with a fresh operating crew to ferry them from Muscat to their final destination. While waiting at the Muscat terminal, passengers were provided with refreshments and received regular operational updates regarding their updated departure schedule. In an official communication, IndiGo expressed regret for the disruption caused to its passengers' travel plans and reiterated that the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft remains its absolute priority.
Second Incident within Two Days for the Airline
This medical diversion comes shortly after another operational issue faced by IndiGo earlier in the week. Just two days prior, on September 1, 2026, an IndiGo flight 6E 2102 operating on the Goa-Delhi route had to perform an emergency turnaround shortly after takeoff. The aircraft had departed from Manohar International Airport at Mopa in Goa around 9:28 AM before encountering a reported engine malfunction mid-air, prompting the flight crew to abort the journey to New Delhi and head back to Mopa.
229 Passengers Evacuated Safely in Goa Incident
There were 229 passengers aboard the Goa-Delhi flight when the engine defect was detected. Following standard safety directives, the pilots alerted air traffic controllers and safely touched down back at Mopa Airport without further escalation. Airline representatives subsequently confirmed that technical protocols were strictly followed during the incident, ensuring that all 229 passengers and flight crew members landed safely without any injuries.
