In the hilly terrains of Uttarakhand, the monsoon brings an increased risk of severe landslides, mudslides, and sudden flash floods. The regional meteorological office issued heavy to extremely heavy rainfall warnings for several districts, including Dehradun, Nainital, Bageshwar, and Champawat. In light of these potential environmental hazards, the respective District Magistrates ordered the complete closure of all schools from classes 1 to 12, as well as local Anganwadi centers.
