Weather conditions across various parts of the country have taken a wet turn once again, offering no respite to citizens in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and several other regions over the next 36 hours. According to forecasts issued by the Meteorological Department, heavy downpours are expected on Wednesday in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. Furthermore, rainfall activity is predicted to span across eastern Madhya Pradesh from September 2 to September 4, and across western Madhya Pradesh from September 3 to September 5.
Rain and Gusty Winds Put Multiple States on High Alert
As per weather predictions, significant precipitation is anticipated on September 2 in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad. Residents in Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab can also expect rainfall on Wednesday. Meanwhile, thunderstorms accompanied by heavy showers are likely in Odisha and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In the northeastern region, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura face continuous rainfall predictions from September 2 to September 5. Western and coastal states including Gujarat, Konkan, Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Goa are slated to receive wet weather, while southern pockets such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Telangana remain under a rain alert accompanied by strong winds gusting at 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.
Yellow Alert Issued for Districts in Himachal Pradesh
In the hilly terrain of Himachal Pradesh, weather conditions remain severe as the Shimla Meteorological Centre issued a yellow alert on Tuesday. The advisory warns of heavy rainfall in isolated pockets of Kangra, Mandi, and Sirmour districts through September 3. Officials noted that light to heavy spells of rain occurred across various locations during the 24-hour period starting Monday evening, while Kangra, Jot, Murari Devi, and Sundernagar witnessed episodes of thunderstorms and lightning strikes.
Flash Flood Warnings and Red Alerts Imposed Across Ten Districts of Jharkhand
The situation in Jharkhand remains particularly critical following intense spells of rain on Tuesday, prompting the weather bureau to issue a sudden flash flood warning for 10 districts across the state. According to the India Meteorological Department, districts including Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, Saraikela-Kharsawan, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Simdega were placed under a flash flood warning valid until Wednesday morning. The weather agency expects overcast skies and continuous heavy precipitation to persist across the state through September 5.
Authorities have enforced a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in Garhwa, Palamu, Simdega, and West Singhbhum districts, while an orange alert remains in place for Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, and Saraikela-Kharsawan until Wednesday morning. Northwest districts such as Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, and Latehar are expected to experience heavy downpours on Wednesday, with similar weather patterns anticipated to continue across parts of the state on Thursday and Friday. Abhishek Anand, deputy director at the local meteorological office, stated that several districts are likely to record heavy to very heavy rainfall alongside surface winds blowing at speeds ranging from 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.
