Prompt action by law enforcement in Kanpur has led to the resolution of a fatal shooting case within 24 hours of the incident. Officers investigating the murder of a woman in the Satti Chaura neighborhood under the Cantonment police station jurisdiction managed to track down and apprehend two key suspects involved in the crime. The swift operation followed intensive tracking across several potential hideouts across the city and surrounding areas.
Formation of Special Investigative Teams
The violent incident took place on August 30 in the Satti Chaura locality, causing widespread anxiety among local residents. Recognizing the gravity of the offense, police authorities immediately registered a formal case and initiated a full-scale inquiry. To expedite the investigation and locate the perpetrators, senior officers constituted three specialized police teams. These teams conducted detailed inspections of the crime scene, collected forensic clues, and monitored suspect movements for 24 continuous hours, ultimately establishing critical leads that pinpointed the location of the suspects.
Strategic Apprehension near Chhabilepurwa Bend
On September 1, investigative teams received concrete intelligence indicating that two individuals connected to the shooting were lingering near a marriage hall close to the Chhabilepurwa bend. Police units coordinated a targeted cordon-and-search effort in the area, successfully blocking escape routes and capturing both suspects. Upon verification, the arrested individuals were identified as Santosh Nishad, also known as Kallu, and Vinod Nishad, alias Modi. Both men are residents of Kallupurwa Katri Piparkheda village, situated within the Gangaghat police station limits of neighboring Unnao district.
Seizure of Firearm and Offense Vehicle
During the arrests, police seized a country-made pistol and one live cartridge from the possession of the accused. In addition, officers impounded the Apache motorcycle allegedly used during the commission of the homicide. Following the recovery of the illegal weapon, investigators formally added relevant charges under the Arms Act to the existing criminal case.
Judicial Remand and Ongoing Probe into Motive
Following standard legal protocols, both suspects were produced before the court, which remanded them to judicial custody, sending them to jail. While two primary suspects are now in custody, police officials emphasized that the investigation remains active. Authorities are conducting further interrogations and gathering evidence to determine the exact motive behind the fatal shooting of the woman.
