Just before the commencement of the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test 2026, police forces in Thane and Bhiwandi successfully dismantled a massive interstate paper leak racket. This operation has once again exposed the terrifying network of exam mafias operating within the country, individuals who jeopardize the futures of lakhs of hardworking and honest students for monetary gain. Demonstrating swift action, the police have managed to apprehend three suspects so far.
The mastermind behind the operation
The primary architect and mastermind behind this high-profile leakage scandal is Bijendra Gupta, a native of Sherpur village in the Samastipur district of Bihar. According to police records, Bijendra Gupta is the individual who operated the entire network from behind the scenes, acting as a remote controller. He was responsible for orchestrating the plan to transport the question papers through Delhi into Maharashtra and dispatched his operatives to Bhiwandi to facilitate the leak.
A quarter-century of criminal history
Investigations reveal that Bijendra Gupta is not a newcomer or an amateur in the world of exam-related crimes. He has been deeply entrenched with major paper leak networks and exam mafias active across the nation for approximately 25 years. He is considered a seasoned and cunning history-sheeter known for leaking question papers, establishing solver gangs, and orchestrating massive fraud in various state-level and competitive government examinations.
Network spanning across states
Preliminary police investigations indicate that this scheme is not limited to a single city or state, as its roots extend to various parts of the country. Among the three apprehended individuals, two are residents of Bihar, while their third accomplice is from Haryana. This confirms that the gang had spread its reach from North India to West India in an attempt to infiltrate the Maharashtra examination system.
