Following these disclosures, Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Pradeep Kumar Chaubey dispatched a specialized fire department team to conduct a comprehensive on-site audit of the premises, uncovering multiple critical safety lapses.
Inspection Uncovers Defective Firefighting Equipment and Policy Lapses
During the detailed physical inspection, fire department officials discovered that the firefighting infrastructure installed inside the indoor stadium was completely non-functional. Emergency water pipelines, fire extinguishers, and detection systems failed to meet operational standards. Observing that mandatory safety protocols were being flouted, the fire department immediately issued a show-cause notice to the private management firm responsible for day-to-day operations. Simultaneously, an official communication was sent to the Noida Authority, which owns and constructed the facility, informing them of the compliance failures and directing prompt corrective action.

Adding to the structural vulnerabilities, a commercial cafe was recently opened near the main entry gate on the ground floor of the indoor stadium. This cafe operates an active kitchen equipped with heating appliances and cooking fuels right at the entry point of the facility. Running a commercial kitchen without explicit fire safety clearances at a primary evacuation route has drawn sharp criticism from safety experts. Noida has witnessed severe fire accidents in the past, including a recent major fire in a building at Mamura village where the lack of valid Fire NOCs and fire suppression equipment led to public outrage.
