Direct Benefit Transfer Of Rs 18,880 Crore To Be Disbursed On June 20
In a major development for the farming community, the central government has finalized the release date for the 23rd installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi. On June 20, 2026, around 9.44 crore farmers across the country will receive their financial aid directly in their bank accounts. The government has earmarked approximately Rs 18,880 crore for this nationwide transfer. Under this central scheme, farmers receive annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000, disbursed in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 every four months, averaging Rs 500 per month.
Launch Event In West Bengal And Scheduled Timings
According to details tracked by TrendKia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a public gathering in West Bengal on June 20. Immediately following his speech, the direct benefit transfer (DBT) process will be initiated. Beneficiaries can expect to receive deposit confirmation messages on their registered mobile numbers starting after 4:00 PM. To facilitate seamless distribution, the government has directed Common Service Centers (CSCs) nationwide to assist farmers in resolving any technical queries. Once credited, farmers can easily withdraw their funds using DigiPay or DigiPayLite at their nearest Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) or Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS).
Relief And Setback For Farmers In Uttar Pradesh
The upcoming disbursement brings mixed news for farmers in Uttar Pradesh. Previously, it was mandatory for beneficiaries to possess a registered Farmer ID to receive the benefits. In a massive relief, the state government has decided to extend the 23rd installment to those UP farmers who have not yet generated their Farmer ID. Under this provision, about 2.17 crore farmers in the state will receive Rs 2,000 each, amounting to a total state level distribution of Rs 4,352 crore.
However, a significant portion of the farming community in the state faces a setback. Uttar Pradesh has 2.88 crore registered farmers, out of which 2.18 crore received the 22nd installment. This time, over 50 lakh farmers might miss out on the payment as they have still not completed their Farmer ID registration.
Bihar Beneficiary Cuts And Gender Inclusive Funding
In Bihar, the scheme continues to support over 73 lakh agricultural workers. During the 22nd installment, 73.34 lakh farmers in Bihar received the credit. However, the updated beneficiary list for the 23rd installment reveals that approximately 34,000 names have been struck off the rolls and will not receive the upcoming payment.
On a national scale, the PM-Kisan scheme has successfully disbursed over Rs 4.28 lakh crore since its inception. Demonstrating a strong focus on gender-inclusive empowerment, more than Rs 1 lakh crore of this cumulative amount has been deposited directly into the bank accounts of female farmers.
Early Quarter Release Compared To Previous Years
This installment marks a remarkably swift release for the first quarter of the current financial year. Beneficiaries did not have to undergo a long wait as the funds are being dispatched well before the close of the quarter. In contrast, the first quarter payment of the previous fiscal year was delayed until August, although the final quarter payment of that year was also delivered ahead of schedule on March 13.
