A severe industrial fire in Greater Noida turned tragic when a structural collapse claimed the lives of two firefighters and left three others injured. The incident unfolded as emergency crews were working to secure the site following a major blaze.
Blaze at an Ecotech-3 Facility
The tragedy took place during the night between August 3 and August 4 within the premises of the ILGIM company located in the Ecotech-3 region. The factory is primarily engaged in manufacturing electronic chips. Upon receiving urgent alerts about the rapidly spreading fire, local law enforcement and a fleet of 10 fire tenders rushed to the spot. The firefighting crew worked intensively to bring the flames under control.
Unexpected Structural Collapse
While the cooling and containment operations were underway, a side wall of the factory along with a heavy iron beam suddenly gave way and collapsed. Five firefighting personnel were caught directly beneath the falling debris and sustained serious injuries. Quick arrangements were made to transport all the victims to a hospital via ambulance.
Casualties and Injured Personnel
Upon arrival, medical professionals examined the injured and pronounced firefighter Rohit Yadav and head constable-driver Teerathpal Singh dead. The remaining three injured personnel identified as head constable-driver Rajpal Singh, firefighter Manish Kumar, and firefighter Amit Kumar received medical attention. Authorities confirmed that the condition of the three surviving firefighters is currently out of danger.
Current Status and Investigation
According to police statements, the fire has been successfully extinguished. In the wake of the disaster, senior police officials and an SDRF team deployed to the location to manage the aftermath. Appropriate legal and investigative procedures regarding the accident are currently underway.
