Regions expected to experience turbulent weather include Delhi and the National Capital Region, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. Concurrently, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh are facing forecasts of heavy to very heavy precipitation.
In several vulnerable areas, wind speeds are anticipated to surge between 70 and 75 kilometers per hour. Given the potential disruptions, authorities have advised residents to exercise extra caution during bouts of severe weather. Persistent thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning strikes presents an ongoing hazard across parts of eastern India.
Gusty Winds and Showers in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh
In the national capital of Delhi, wet weather and gusty conditions are expected to persist from September 24 through September 26. Wind speeds across Delhi are projected to hover around 25 to 30 kilometers per hour during the day.
Neighbouring Uttar Pradesh is similarly bracing for scattered rain accompanied by squally winds. Districts placed on alert include Lucknow, Prayagraj, Azamgarh, Sultanpur, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, Ballia, Raebareli, and Sonbhadra. In some of these localities, gusts could accelerate to speeds between 60 and 65 kilometers per hour, creating difficult conditions for travelers and residents alike.
Intense Downpours Slated for Bihar and Jharkhand
Widespread precipitation is also forecast for major districts across Bihar. Heavy rain warnings cover the state capital Patna along with Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Supaul, and Araria.
In adjoining Jharkhand, stormy conditions are expected to unfold across key urban and industrial centers. Rain coupled with elevated wind speeds has prompted weather advisories in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, and Giridih.
Landslide Threats in Hilly Regions and Coastal Warnings
Northern mountainous states face heightened risks due to the projected spell of precipitation. Across multiple districts of Uttarakhand, torrential showers significantly elevate the danger of landslides along fragile mountain roads. In Himachal Pradesh, advisories for intense rainfall and gusty winds have been issued for Mandi, Kullu, Kangra, and Solan. Parts of Jammu and Kashmir are also predicted to witness thunderous showers.
Further south, severe weather is set to impact Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. Coastal pockets in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha are likely to experience gale-force winds reaching speeds of 70 to 75 kilometers per hour. In light of rough sea conditions and turbulent weather, fishermen have been cautioned to stay vigilant and avoid venturing into open waters.
