The national capital of Delhi is all set to host the upcoming BRICS Summit. The two-day conference will witness the participation of heads of state or their representatives from a total of 21 countries. Leaders from major nations including Russia, China, South Africa, and Brazil are expected to attend this high-profile global event. In view of this, comprehensive and stringent security arrangements have been implemented across the national capital to ensure smooth proceedings.
Bharat Mandapam and Hotels Converted into Fortresses
The main venue, Bharat Mandapam, along with 11 major hotels across the city, has been converted into impregnable fortresses. These 11 hotels have been designated for the accommodation of BRICS delegates and foreign dignitaries, with heavy security cordons established around them. To maintain foolproof security, a total of 25000 security personnel have been deployed on the ground. Additionally, plans include the deployment of 100 NSG commandos and 30 DCP-rank officers to handle specialized security operations.
Traffic Management and Route Diversions
Alongside security, extensive measures have been taken to manage vehicular movement across the city. Authorities are closely monitoring 35 key routes in Delhi, as delegates from various nations are expected to travel through these corridors. Central Delhi is set to experience near curfew-like conditions for two days due to the movement restrictions. However, prominent commercial hubs like Connaught Place and Chandni Chowk will remain open, while traffic diversions will be enforced across 22 routes to facilitate the smooth passage of official convoys.
