Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal took to social media to extend warm birthday greetings to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. In his public message, he referred to Mann as the pride of Punjab and his younger brother, expressing wishes for his good health, lifelong cheer, and continued dedication toward the prosperity of the state.
Political Journey and Background
Bhagwant Singh Mann serves as the 17th and current Chief Minister of Punjab. Before stepping into full-time politics, he built a prominent career as a well-known artist and comedian, gaining widespread recognition across the country. He began his political journey by joining Manpreet Singh Badal's party, the Punjab Peoples Party, before eventually aligning with the Aam Aadmi Party and establishing himself as a prominent mass leader.
Parliamentary Experience
Mann has a solid legislative background, having served twice as a Member of Parliament representing the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab. He first entered the 16th Lok Sabha by winning the Sangrur seat in the 2014 general elections. He successfully retained the constituency in the 17th Lok Sabha, where he actively raised regional issues and debated matters of public importance in parliament.
Rise to Chief Minister
Following years of grassroot political activity and overcoming an initial defeat in the 2012 assembly elections, Mann led his party to a massive electoral victory in the 2022 assembly polls, defeating veteran opponents. As Chief Minister, he has focused on governance reforms, including visiting government schools in Delhi to study administrative models, and has experienced significant personal milestones, such as the birth of his daughter with his wife Gurpreet Kaur in March 2024, making him a father for the third time.
Public Reaction
The social media post drew widespread engagement, with supporters and well-wishers sending congratulatory messages praising his leadership and dedication to public service. At the same time, a section of users utilized the comment thread to raise questions and debate various political and administrative issues.
