Three districts in western Uttar Pradesh, Shamli, Bijnor and Ghaziabad, are set to receive a major push in infrastructure and welfare spending. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on the social media platform X that multiple assembly constituencies across these districts will see project launches and groundbreaking ceremonies worth crores of rupees.
What Yogi Adityanath said
In his post, Yogi Adityanath said western Uttar Pradesh would be lit up today with a fresh wave of development, public welfare and public trust. He said 255 development projects worth more than ₹2,452 crore would be inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid across various assembly constituencies in Shamli, Bijnor and Ghaziabad districts. According to the post, beneficiaries of welfare schemes would also be felicitated on the occasion.
The bigger push for development in western UP
The announcement comes amid continued momentum around development projects in western Uttar Pradesh. According to news reports, the Ganga Expressway is being built to link western and eastern Uttar Pradesh, a move expected to speed up both travel and trade in the region. Separately, the Delhi-Dehradun corridor has also been cited as a project that could reshape the economy of western Uttar Pradesh. The state government has repeatedly spoken of an inclusive development model that it says runs from welfare of the poorest to overall economic growth. Reports have also pointed to the BJP working to strengthen its caste arithmetic in western Uttar Pradesh ahead of the coming elections, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to campaign in the region. At the same time, the demand for a separate state carved out of western Uttar Pradesh has resurfaced ahead of the elections, with a large conference on the issue reported in Greater Noida.

Uttar Pradesh is India's most populous state and the fourth largest by area. Lucknow serves as its administrative and legislative capital, while Prayagraj holds the status of judicial capital. Agra, Kanpur, Varanasi and Gorakhpur are counted among the state's other major cities. Uttar Pradesh borders Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh to the north, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan to the west, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to the south, and Bihar and Jharkhand to the east. The state's northern border also touches Nepal.
Public reaction
Yogi Adityanath's post drew a mixed response on social media. While several users welcomed the development push in western Uttar Pradesh and called it good news for the region, others raised questions about whether the projects would be completed on time and whether ordinary residents would actually benefit.
