About Mulayam Singh Yadav
Mulayam Singh Yadav was a prominent Indian political leader whose career began in education. After stepping away from his profession as a school teacher, he entered grassroots politics to advocate for farmers, backward classes, and rural communities. In 1992, he founded the Samajwadi Party, shaping it into one of the most formidable political organisations in northern India.
Throughout his extensive tenure, he served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh multiple times and held the portfolio of India's Defence Minister at the Centre. In recognition of his immense public contributions, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the prestigious Padma Vibhushan upon him posthumously on the eve of 26 January 2023.
