The 27th episode of the reality competition show Lock Upp Season 2 witnessed a deeply emotional moment as content creator and actress Shreya Kalra was forced to share one of her most painful personal secrets. Widely considered one of the strongest contenders in the house, Shreya had managed to keep all three of her secrets hidden until now. However, during a high-stakes task, fellow contestant Akanksha Choudhary attempted to gain a tactical advantage by targeting Shreya's secret using the keyword 'cousin', triggering a chain of events that left the entire house in tears.
Task Pressure and Akanksha Choudhary's Tactical Move
Faced with the imminent exposure of her secret, Shreya had no option but to step forward and reveal the truth herself. While Akanksha initially aimed to put Shreya in a difficult position within the game, the emotional gravity of the revelation transformed the mood of the room instantly. As Shreya broke down while recounting her childhood trauma, Akanksha was overcome with remorse for pressing the secret during the task.
Childhood Trauma and Concerns for Her Family
Prior to making her revelation, Shreya clarified that her desire to protect her secrets was not motivated by a desperate attempt to reach the finale, expressing full confidence in her ability to progress based on her performance in the show. She explained that she had explicitly requested Akanksha not to bring up this specific secret because of the severe repercussions it could have on her family. Becoming emotional as she remembered her mother, Shreya disclosed the traumatic event from her youth.
Shreya revealed that when she was just 13 years old, her cousin molested her. The incidents took place during visits to her maternal grandmother's home, where family members slept together in the central hall. At that tender age, she did not even fully comprehend what was happening to her. Reaffirming her independence, Shreya made it clear that she was not seeking pity from anyone.
"I do not want any sympathy, as I am not someone who plays the victim."She added that she did not want people outside the show to treat her with pity once she exited.
Family History and Brother's Upcoming Wedding
None of Shreya's family members were aware of the abuse she suffered, with fellow contestant Rishabh Jaiswal being the sole person outside her immediate family who knew the truth beforehand. Shreya was particularly determined to keep her mother from discovering the truth, as her mother had spent nearly three years caring for that same cousin following the death of his own mother. Revealing the truth threatened to shatter her mother emotionally.
Furthermore, Shreya's biological brother is scheduled to get married in November. His previous engagement had broken off due to controversies linked to Shreya's career in the entertainment industry. With her brother now preparing for his wedding and getting a fresh chance at happiness, Shreya expressed deep anxiety that publicizing her childhood trauma might disrupt her family's celebratory atmosphere once again.
Support from Housemates and Past Friction with Apoorva Mukhija
Upon hearing her story, fellow inmates immediately rallied around Shreya, offering comfort and encouraging her to focus on her own well-being rather than worrying about external consequences or other people. The housemates urged her to stay strong and composure herself during this difficult moment.
Despite previous tensions in the show, including a heated dispute with Apoorva Mukhija over an insistence on saying sorry, the dynamics inside the house showed a moment of solidarity. Upon her departure from the show, Rebel Kid had set aside their feud to praise Shreya's resilience. Through all the drama and personal distress, Shreya Kalra continues to maintain a powerful presence and strong standing in Lock Upp Season 2.
