Tej Pratap Yadav, son of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, has once again brought his personal life into the limelight through candid reflections shared on the reality show Rise and Fall Season 2. Participating in the OTT series, the political figure discussed the friction and circumstances that unravelled his marriage with his former wife, Aishwarya Rai. During the conversation, he stated that severe incompatibilities surfaced merely months after their wedding, leading to escalating household tension that made him dread returning home. Yadav linked the breakdown to divergent mindsets, the strain of public office, and family expectations that shaped their union.
Domestic Discord Began Within Three Months of Marriage
The conversation unfolded when fellow contestant Niharika Tiwari questioned Tej Pratap Yadav regarding the reasons behind his divorce. Looking back at the initial phase of the marriage, Yadav recounted that disagreements escalated into frequent arguments approximately three months after the wedding took place. According to him, the fundamental divide stemmed from contrasting temperaments, preferences, and worldviews, which made domestic harmony impossible to achieve. He claimed that the marriage had been arranged under significant familial and social pressure during a period when he was actively serving as Bihar's health minister, carrying demanding administrative responsibilities.
Yadav explained that the persistent domestic discord quickly began taking a toll on his everyday routine and mental well-being. The home environment grew so turbulent that he often found himself reluctant to step back into the residence after completing his official duties. Under such stressful conditions, he preferred avoiding the premises altogether, choosing instead to spend nights at friends' residences or finding temporary solace elsewhere. His account underscored the considerable emotional and psychological burden he experienced during that phase.
Disagreements Over Daily Religious Practices and Morning Routines
Touching upon his spiritual lifestyle, Tej Pratap Yadav noted that religious observance forms a core element of his regular day. He explained that waking up early in the morning to offer prayers and perform daily rituals had always been an uninterrupted personal discipline. However, he claimed that this personal habit became another recurring friction point between the couple. According to Yadav, Aishwarya disapproved of his early morning prayer routines and repeatedly insisted that he discontinue them.
He further recalled that these domestic disputes were not always confined behind closed doors, occasionally breaking out in the presence of extended family members. It is relevant to note that these observations represent Yadav's unilateral account of the relationship, as the show did not feature any simultaneous response or statement from Aishwarya Rai regarding these allegations.
Allegations of Conflicting Lifestyles and Bedroom Messages
Discussing the divergence in their social routines, Tej Pratap Yadav alleged that their lifestyles were completely incompatible. He stated that while he maintained traditional habits, Aishwarya frequently engaged in late-night social gatherings, with parties extending until four or five in the morning. He observed that despite entering an arranged marriage, mutual alignment could never be forged between them.
Yadav also narrated a specific episode, claiming that after returning home from the legislative assembly one day, he witnessed Aishwarya engaging in a phone chat with an individual from her bedroom. According to him, the person on the other end was an old romantic acquaintance, and the exchange included affectionate text messages accompanied by heart emojis. Yadav stated that he observed the chat unfolding on the screen from the doorway of the room.
Legal Proceedings and Video Evidence Submitted in Court
Addressing the contentious legal dissolution of their relationship, Tej Pratap Yadav stated that he had documented several domestic confrontations on video during their time together. He claimed to have presented these visual recordings as supporting evidence before the court during the ongoing legal battle. The discussion on the show, however, did not offer independent verification regarding the exact nature of these recordings or their formal admissibility in judicial proceedings.
Tej Pratap Yadav and Aishwarya Rai, who is the daughter of senior Bihar politician Chandrika Rai, tied the knot in Patna on 12 May 2018. The alliance deteriorated within mere months of the wedding ceremonies, prompting Yadav to formally file a petition seeking divorce in the family court.
