Security forces stationed in Pakistan's restive southwestern province of Balochistan have faced another severe offensive targeting an established outpost. An armed raid aimed directly at a Frontier Corps (FC) military installation situated in the Mashkel area of Washuk district has reportedly caused significant military casualties. The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for the operation, asserting that 18 Frontier Corps personnel lost their lives and multiple others suffered injuries during the coordinated assault, though these figures remain without independent verification.
Frontier Corps 58 Wing Post Surrounded from Multiple Directions
According to an official statement issued by BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch, the strike took place on October 1 against the camp belonging to the Frontier Corps 58 Wing stationed in the Gorinder sector of Mashkel. The organization stated that assault teams tactically surrounded the compound from several angles before launching an intense barrage utilizing rockets, grenade launchers, and heavy firepower. The sudden and multi-directional bombardment left the personnel inside facing extensive destruction across the perimeter.
Reinforcement Convoy Targeted and Casualties Evacuated
The insurgent group further stated that when Pakistani military reinforcements were mobilized toward the scene to counter the offensive, their convoy was also intercepted and targeted, resulting in additional military losses. The BLF alleged that the bodies of the deceased personnel were later transported away from the site to Panjgur by helicopter. Additionally, the militant group accused the Pakistani military establishment of deliberately withholding official casualty figures and concealing the true identities of the soldiers killed in the confrontation.
Role of Karima Armed Assault Division and Qurban Unit
A key element highlighted by the separatist group was the frontline deployment of its newly established female formation, the Karima Armed Assault Division (KAAD). Named in honor of the late Baloch political activist Karima Baloch, the specialized unit carried out the operation in direct coordination with the group's established Qurban Unit. The incident underscores an expanding wave of insurgent actions directed at armed checkpoints, police units, and security personnel across the province.
Pattern of Escalating Confrontations Throughout September
This assault follows earlier claims made by the BLF regarding separate operations in late September, where KAAD fighters allegedly killed nine Pakistani military personnel. The group had detailed a September 22 ambush on the CPEC highway near Jusak in Turbat, which struck a three-vehicle Quick Response Force (QRF) convoy and reportedly resulted in six military deaths along with several wounded troops. The Qurban Unit assisted the female brigade during that engagement to break the security forces' containment and secure an extraction route, although one militant identified as Chakar Murad, alias Dileep Jan, was killed and multiple military vehicles sustained heavy damage. Furthermore, the group previously claimed responsibility for blockades across three points on the Quetta-Karachi highway in Kalat district's Manguchar tehsil, where an assault on approaching armored and patrol vehicles from Manguchar bazaar allegedly left two more soldiers dead.
