Guwahati based political leadership in the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee has resolved to initiate a comprehensive statewide public awareness campaign targeting coal, stone, and sand syndicates. The opposition party has squarely blamed these commercial rings for exacerbating the recent deluge that wreaked havoc across parts of the region.
The crucial strategy session convened on Sunday under the leadership of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi to evaluate the party organizational machinery. Deliberations during the gathering encompassed comprehensive readiness assessments for upcoming electoral contests, including Lok Sabha by-elections, autonomous council elections, and municipal polls.
Party leaders meticulously examined the internal structural hierarchy while conducting a dedicated concurrent session specifically for the social media department. Top functionaries took detailed stock of ongoing relief and rehabilitation operations executed by district units alongside frontal bodies such as the Seva Dal, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, and NSUI within flood-ravaged zones of Upper Assam.
According to official party statements, grassroots humanitarian efforts entail rebuilding shattered dwellings, cleaning public utility structures and religious centers, performing community labor to facilitate the resumption of academic activities at local schools, and distributing paddy seedlings alongside direct financial and logistical assistance to agriculturists for crop transplantation.
The assembly formally endorsed a resolution targeting the mineral syndicates, which the organization characterized as the primary catalysts behind the recent ecological disaster in Upper Assam. Plans are now finalized to spearhead a sustained public mobilization initiative against these operations.
Additional resolutions passed during the proceedings strongly condemned the proposed contraction of the eco-sensitive zone surrounding Kaziranga National Park from 10 kilometers down to 1 kilometer. Furthermore, leadership voiced vehement opposition against attempts to acquire indigenous land plots at Engleng Pathar for subsequent transfer to major corporate conglomerates.
Congress representatives emphasized their commitment to leading a broad-based mass movement designed to consolidate public sentiment against policies deemed detrimental to ordinary citizens. The agenda also incorporated a blueprint for executing zonal training workshops targeting active Pradesh Congress workers.
Participants expressed profound apprehension regarding the appointment trajectory of individuals associated with the RSS to vice-chancellor positions across academic institutions in Assam and beyond, alongside alleged institutional bias favoring ideologically aligned candidates for college principal vacancies.
Discussions further touched upon mounting disillusionment among Gen-Z cohorts regarding prevailing educational frameworks. Consequently, the leadership greenlit a proposal to organize a dedicated state-level youth convention aimed at addressing pressing concerns affecting younger demographics.
