Rahul Gandhi Slams Centre Over UGC-NET Exam Cancellations, Calls NTA An Extraction Machine

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the central government after the cancellation of three UGC-NET examinations by the NTA. Posting on social media, he criticized the administration, stating that students are suffering for institutional errors and that the testing body functions like an extraction machine.

New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has launched a scathing attack on the central government following the cancellation of three UGC-NET examinations. Taking to the social media platform X, Rahul Gandhi stated that the National Testing Agency canceled the papers after a gap of two months. He asserted that a proper education system practically no longer exists in the country, adding that much like the Modi administration, the NTA refuses to acknowledge its own mistakes.

Rahul Gandhi Criticizes the Centre Over Exam Fiasco

The Congress leader wrote on his X handle, addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning what the NTA has done once again. The UGC-NET examinations for Sociology, English, and Commerce were conducted between June 22 and June 30. Nearly two months later, the NTA canceled all three exams because it had set flawed question papers and repeated old questions.

Thousands of candidates who spent years preparing, filled out forms, paid exam fees, and traveled to far-off test centers will now have to repeat the entire ordeal in September. The NTA makes the mistakes, but the students bear the punishment. He noted that he had raised this issue during his visits to Kota, Dehradun, and Prayagraj, and will continue to do so. This is no longer an education system, he remarked, describing it instead as an extraction machine that takes away money, valuable years, mental health, and self-confidence, offering nothing in return, not even secure jobs. He added that the NTA still refuses to answer the fundamental question of whether these question papers were leaked prior to the exams. Like other departments under the Modi administration, the NTA never admits fault, and he expressed confidence that, as with previous botched papers, no accountability will be fixed. He emphasized that Dharmendra Prasad's resignation was the first step, not the last, and that accountability must also be fixed within the leadership of the NTA.

Rahul Gandhi told students that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has built a system that cannot successfully conduct examinations and then ends up blaming the very students who take them. Years of youth are being snatched away, and until PM Modi provides answers, the opposition will not stop.

Three UGC-NET Subject Exams Rescheduled

The NTA has once again faced widespread embarrassment as it was forced to cancel three major UGC-NET subject examinations. Consequently, the UGC-NET exams for the three subjects will be held again. The re-examinations will cover English, Commerce, and Sociology. This decision came after numerous complaints regarding factual errors, typing mistakes, translation flaws, and grammar issues within the question papers. The NTA has formally acknowledged spelling and printing mistakes.

The rescheduled tests are slated for September 9 and September 10. The English paper will commence on September 9 at 9:00 AM, the Commerce paper will take place on September 9 at 3:00 PM, and the Sociology paper is scheduled for September 10 at 9:00 AM. Candidates will not be required to pay any additional application fees for these re-tests.
