The upcoming by-election for the Bankipur assembly seat in Bihar is drawing significant attention. In this high-stakes contest, the Bharatiya Janata Party has officially nominated Abhishek Kumar, popularly known as Bunty, as its candidate. Abhishek Kumar Bunty shares a long-standing relationship with the BJP, having been actively involved in party politics for approximately 26 years. He has notably spent a substantial amount of time managing the election campaigns for Nitin Nabin. Belonging to the Kayastha community, Abhishek Kumar Bunty has completed his formal education up to the matriculation level, which is the 10th grade.
Political Career and Growth
Abhishek Kumar Bunty initiated his political journey during his student days and gradually built his career starting from the booth level within the organization. Over the years, he has held several key positions, including Mandal General Secretary, Mandal President, BJP Yuva Morcha Patna Metropolitan President, and he currently serves as the State Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Bihar. Within the party circles, he is widely recognized as a dedicated, ground-level grassroots worker who has consistently focused on strengthening the organization.
Assets and Financial Details
According to the election affidavit submitted, Abhishek Kumar Sinha, alias Bunty, does not own any immovable assets. He has clarified that he does not possess a personal home, agricultural land, or any commercial property. The 41-year-old BJP candidate has declared a total movable asset value of approximately 19.60 lakh rupees. This includes 11 grams of gold, specifically a chain and a ring. Furthermore, the affidavit reveals that he has an outstanding loan of about 10 lakh rupees from the Bank of Maharashtra. Residing on Mandir Marg in West Anandpuri, Patna, Abhishek reported his annual income to be around 4.98 lakh rupees, generated from his business activities. Regarding transportation, he owns a Honda car purchased in 2018 along with a motorcycle, while his wife holds no vehicle registrations.
The Political Stakes in Bankipur
The Bankipur constituency is regarded as a major stronghold for the BJP, a seat that has sent Nitin Nabin to the legislative assembly five consecutive times. Following Nabin's move to the Rajya Sabha, the seat fell vacant, leading the BJP to place its trust in a reliable face like Abhishek Kumar Bunty. This electoral contest is not merely a face-off between two candidates but is viewed as a challenge between the BJP's organizational structure and the political strategy of Prashant Kishor. A victory for Abhishek would reinforce the effectiveness of Nitin Nabin's organizational grip, whereas a potential loss could carry a significant political message for the party.
