Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary made it clear on Thursday that ministers, MLAs and officials found involved in corruption will no longer be spared. He announced that special vigilance courts will be set up in all nine divisions of the state so that corruption cases can be resolved quickly and the guilty punished without delay.
A vigilance police station in every district, no leniency promised
Samrat Chaudhary said that government witnesses who have to travel to testify in crime and economic offence cases will now be provided a transport allowance so that giving testimony does not become a hardship for them. He reiterated that the government's policy on corruption is one of zero tolerance, and under this policy a vigilance police station will be opened in every district of the state, while a vigilance police post will be set up in every sub division, extending the watch on corruption down to the ground level.
A system that even makes ED and CBI seek cooperation
The Chief Minister directed that Bihar's Economic Offences Unit and the Vigilance Investigation Bureau bring in experts and develop such a modern and smart working system that, in special circumstances, even the Enforcement Directorate, ED, and the Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI, feel the need for their cooperation. His point was that the state's own agencies should become capable enough that central investigating agencies too can rely on them.
Schools to come up on properties seized from the corrupt
Samrat Chaudhary said the Vigilance Investigation Bureau, the Special Vigilance Unit and the Economic Offences Unit will take direct action against people involved in corruption. He said that once such people are identified, the Bihar government will run schools on their seized properties, so that assets earned through corruption are put to use for the benefit of ordinary people.
The Chief Minister's Triple T formula
The Chief Minister said Bihar will be made corruption free on the basis of what he called the Triple T formula, transparency, technology and trust, which will also strengthen good governance in the state. He appealed to everyone to contribute towards building a prosperous Bihar, adding that the goal can only be met once accountability is ensured at every level.
