Bharatiya Janata Party national president Nitin Nabin stated on November 8 that opposition parties should learn from senior party leader and former deputy prime minister Lal Krishna Advani that all political political factions must stand united when the nation faces any challenge. Speaking at a special event organized at the party headquarters on the occasion of Advani turning 100, Nabin said that whenever Advani spoke in Parliament, he always maintained that despite being in the opposition, the BJP would stand firmly alongside the government on issues concerning national security. Even as the leader of the opposition, he clearly stated that when the nation is at stake, the entire opposition would stand with the government, a lesson that people still need to learn today.
Contrasting Yet Harmonious Leadership with Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Nabin noted that while Advani and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had starkly different temperaments and personalities, their ability to work together toward a shared goal in a single direction and with one voice was truly unique. He emphasized that every BJP worker must learn this from them. Describing Advani as a source of inspiration for everyone in the organization, Nabin stated that his unwavering commitment to the ideology of nation first proved the critics wrong regarding the party's growth and expansion.
Upholding Dignity, Honesty, and Sensitivity in Politics
Nabin remarked that as India marches forward into the 21st century, the Bharatiya Janata Party is also advancing with continuous expansion and development. The BJP is working to take both the nation's heritage and the party's traditions forward. He added that if today's generation needs to learn the dignity that must be maintained in politics, the honesty and purity that must be followed, and the sensitivity that must be displayed, Advani is the finest example. His personality stands as a symbol of integrity and probity.
Taking Tough Decisions with Absolute Ease
Nabin mentioned that although he did not get the opportunity to work directly alongside Advani, insights shared by those who had worked with him helped him understand how inspiring his life truly has been. The BJP chief noted that Advani could take even the most difficult decisions with utmost ease. Despite enduring the profound pain of partition, Advani displayed immense dedication toward the nation.
Crediting Advani and Vajpayee with laying the foundation for the BJP's journey of growth, Nabin said that both leaders played a pivotal role in building a party that started with merely two Lok Sabha members. He stated that the resolute determination of these two leaders helped the organization overcome the pervasive atmosphere of uncertainty during its nascent stages following its formation.
Nabin stated that he wanted to assure Advani that BJP workers will continue to work toward taking the party forward in alignment with his vision. Mentioning the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and Advani's Rath Yatra, Nabin recalled the slogan of building the temple at the very spot. He noted that this slogan was chanted not only by BJP workers but by crores of people across the country.
Earlier, Union Minister and BJP Treasurer Piyush Goyal recalled his association with Advani, stating that the senior party leader never made anyone feel how senior or influential he was. He mentioned that party workers affectionately called him Dada. Goyal said Advani always treated him like a family member and knew him by the nickname Happy. He also added that due to the hard work and commitment of leaders like Advani, the BJP's Lok Sabha seat count increased, while Congress seats declined.
