The NEET paper leak case, the Ram Mandir donation dispute and other issues kept the opposition on the offensive against the government. That same friction carried over into Tuesday, directly disrupting the smooth functioning of proceedings.
Speaker's appeal in Lok Sabha, opposition insists on debate
In the Lok Sabha, the Speaker repeatedly appealed to members to return to their seats and hold discussions within the rules of the House. Despite this, opposition MPs remained firm on their demand for an immediate discussion and for accountability to be fixed on these issues, preventing normal proceedings from continuing.
Kharge raises crackdown on students in Rajya Sabha
In the Rajya Sabha, Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge raised the NEET paper leak matter along with the issue of strict action taken against students across the country. His remarks were immediately followed by heavy uproar in the House, which badly affected the day's proceedings.
Government says it won't shy away from debate
The government made clear that it is not avoiding discussion on any issue, but insisted that any debate must take place within parliamentary rules and decorum. Before the session began, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address at the Parliament complex, had expressed hope for a meaningful and serious discussion during the session.
