Amid the escalating ruckus, Speaker Satish Mahana adjourned the house until 11 AM on Wednesday. In a major disciplinary action during the session, Samajwadi Party MLA Sachin Yadav was suspended for the remainder of the monsoon session after he was caught taking a photograph of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inside the house.
Breakdown of the Supplementary Budget
The supplementary budget presented by Finance Minister Suresh Khanna totals Rs 59,019.54 crore, structured to support ongoing administrative requirements and state development projects. Out of the total allocation, Rs 17,399.50 crore has been earmarked for revenue expenditure. To boost infrastructure and public works across the state, a major portion amounting to Rs 41,620.04 crore has been designated for capital expenditure. This significant capital allocation underlines the administration's push toward maintaining momentum on key developmental initiatives throughout Uttar Pradesh.
High Drama and MLA Suspension in the House
As the financial proposals were being tabled, opposition legislators rushed into the well of the house, raising slogans and questioning the government on multiple issues. The situation intensified when SP MLA Sachin Yadav allegedly used his mobile phone to take a photograph of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on the floor of the house, violating parliamentary conduct rules. Expressing deep displeasure over the breach of decorum, Speaker Satish Mahana ordered the suspension of Sachin Yadav for the entire duration of the current monsoon session, reiterating that rules of conduct must be strictly respected by all members.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Criticizes Opposition
Following the adjournment of the assembly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a press conference to criticize the opposition's conduct. He described their behavior as unconstitutional, shameful, and disrespectful toward the traditions of the house. The Chief Minister pointed out that before the session commenced, the government had explicitly assured the opposition that it was prepared to address all questions raised under parliamentary guidelines. However, he stated that the opposition chose obstruction over constructiveness.
Addressing the opposition's stance regarding Ayodhya and Ram Janmabhoomi matters currently pending before the Supreme Court, Chief Minister Yogi noted that raising sub-judice issues in an unparliamentary manner dishonors both the judiciary and the legislature. He emphasized that such actions insult the principles established by Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and the framers of the Constitution. He accused the Samajwadi Party of creating misleading narratives and spreading negativity instead of engaging in reasoned debates on the assembly floor.
