Hathras: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched a sharp attack on Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav regarding his recent statements on Ayodhya. Akhilesh Yadav had previously claimed that he would transform Ayodhya into an incomparable religious hub where pilgrims from across the globe would experience deep spirituality if he were to form the government. Responding to these remarks, Yogi Adityanath urged the SP leader to reflect on his own history, reminding him that members of his party had previously opened fire on Ram devotees. The Chief Minister accused the Samajwadi Party of consistently opposing religious traditions linked to Hindu faith and various infrastructure development projects. Yogi Adityanath further advised Akhilesh to seek redemption by visiting Ram Lalla, suggesting that such an act might grant him wisdom.
Targeting the change in tone
The Chief Minister remarked that now that Ayodhya resembles the Treta Yuga due to the hard work of Ram devotees and the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, Akhilesh Yadav seems to have developed a sudden interest in it. Yogi recalled how the previous SP administration had restricted the celebration of Krishna Janmashtami in police stations and prisons, and had also created hurdles for the Kanwar Yatra. Citing Hathras as an example, he noted that over 22 temples have been beautified in the region. He questioned whether such work could have happened during the Samajwadi Party's tenure, alleging that funds during that era were diverted to building cemetery boundary walls, whereas his administration has redirected those resources toward temple development.
Challenge on Krishna Janmabhoomi
Yogi Adityanath stated that the decoration of Ayodhya is already complete, and Akhilesh need not worry about it. He challenged the SP leader to speak openly about Mathura and Vrindavan if he truly considers himself religious. According to the Chief Minister, Akhilesh lacks the courage to stand for the birthland of Lord Krishna because his politics are centered on appeasing clerics, rather than driving state development. He insisted that Ayodhya does not depend on Akhilesh for its identity and urged him not to undermine the current progress with political rhetoric.
What was the proposal from Akhilesh?
Prior to this, Akhilesh Yadav had taken to the social media platform X to express his vision. He pledged that a future government under his leadership would develop Ayodhya into a model religious city where devotees could experience a unique sense of faith and 'Siyaram Dham'. He claimed that his administration would restore the traditional pride and rights of the residents of Ayodhya while fostering a space of unwavering belief and devotion.
