Taking strong diplomatic action against persistent infiltration attempts and narcotics smuggling along the Punjab border, the Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday summoned the Charge d'Affaires of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. Indian officials lodged a resolute protest against the continuous unlawful border crossings originating from Pakistani territory. Simultaneously, New Delhi unequivocally dismissed the fabricated allegations raised by Pakistan regarding an armed encounter along the international boundary in the Firozpur sector on October 2. Indian diplomats firmly pointed out that three armed infiltrators made a brazen attempt to enter Indian territory, deliberately disregarding repeated verbal warnings issued by Border Security Force personnel. Faced with an immediate threat to border security as the suspects advanced toward the boundary fence, the troops engaged them, resulting in two Pakistani intruders being eliminated on the spot.
Ministry of External Affairs Confronts Pakistani Diplomat With Hard Questions
During the meeting, Indian diplomatic officials presented the complete operational situation to the Pakistani envoy. India emphasized that armed narcotics syndicates operating from Pakistani soil are persistently orchestrating infiltration bids into Indian territory. The Ministry underlined that this was by no means an isolated or routine incident, but rather a calculated cross-border breach. New Delhi formally demanded that the government of Pakistan institute an impartial and thorough inquiry into all such infiltration attempts. Furthermore, Indian diplomats stressed that such coordinated incursions could not occur without the active complicity or deliberate negligence of Pakistani border security agencies. India urged Pakistan to conduct an internal probe into the conduct of its army and Rangers, while taking immediate, verifiable steps to dismantle the trans-border drug networks operating from its soil.
Sequence of Events on October 2 Morning Along the Punjab Border
The early-morning encounter unfolded near the international boundary adjoining the Tarn Taran and Firozpur sectors of Punjab. In the early hours of Friday, alert BSF personnel patrolling the sector observed suspicious movement emerging from the Chhattanwala area on the Pakistani side. Three armed individuals were detected advancing directly toward the Indian perimeter. Sentry units on duty adhered to standard operating procedures, repeatedly calling on the intruders to halt and turn back. However, the suspects ignored every warning and continued their determined advance toward the border fencing. Evaluating the imminent danger to national security, the BSF personnel opened fire in self-defence. Two of the infiltrators were killed during the exchange, while the third managed to flee back across the boundary into Pakistan. The bodies of the deceased were later transferred to the Punjab Police for official processing.
Nexus Between Smuggling Syndicates and Pakistani Border Forces
India pointed out during the diplomatic engagement that the intercepted infiltration was directly linked to transnational organized narcotics and arms syndicates. Indian authorities highlighted recent successes by the Punjab Police, which dismantled two major cross-border smuggling networks. In those operations, law enforcement officers apprehended four smugglers and seized ten kilograms of heroin along with ten pistols. The Director General of Police of Punjab noted that the arrested operatives maintained direct operational contact with foreign handlers across the border. These seizures follow earlier recoveries involving AK-47 assault rifles and extensive consignments of contraband. India asserted that Pakistani Rangers actively facilitate safe passage for these couriers across the boundary, underscoring a well-coordinated system designed to push weapons and illicit drugs into Indian territory.
Strict Warning Issued on Border Sanctity and Bilateral Understandings
Concluding the diplomatic summons, the Ministry of External Affairs reminded Pakistan of the bilateral agreements governing peace and stability along the frontier. India maintained that Pakistan must strictly observe the sanctity of the international boundary in letter and spirit. The neighbouring nation was told to issue binding, strict instructions to its frontier troops to halt unauthorized border activity immediately. Indian authorities reiterated that any provocative maneuvers or infiltration attempts along the border will face zero tolerance. Pakistan must act decisively against terror and narcotics networks flourishing within its borders, with India warning that continued inaction to arrest these dangerous patterns would inevitably invite grave consequences.
