Following his appointment as the president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, Pargat Singh visited Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib in New Delhi on October 3 to offer prayers. The newly appointed state chief sought spiritual blessings to fulfill his leadership responsibilities with dedication, humility, and public service. Sharing updates of his spiritual visit on the social media platform X, he invoked prayers for universal welfare and thanked the Almighty for providing him the strength to serve the people of Punjab and the party organisation faithfully.
Sharp Rebuke of AAP Government and Governance Critique
Speaking to media personnel outside the shrine, Pargat Singh directed harsh criticism at the ruling Aam Aadmi Party administration in Punjab. He underscored that Punjab draws its moral foundation from the revered Gurus and has historically rejected divisive and hateful politics. According to him, the residents of Punjab will never tolerate hate-driven political agendas that are being propagated across other parts of the country.
Drawing upon historical parallels, the Congress leader highlighted that Punjab has consistently resisted invaders and looters throughout centuries. He asserted that the current state regime is exercising arbitrary governance and mismanaging state resources. Singh accused the administration of running an unchecked plunder of the public exchequer and claimed that unlawful seizures of private properties and residential structures are being facilitated. He called upon the citizens to take a stand to protect Punjab from exploitation.
Rejection of Factional Disputes and Leadership Coordination
Addressing persistent queries regarding internal factionalism within the Punjab Congress ranks, Pargat Singh firmly dismissed suggestions of discord. He stated that he approaches politics with the mentality of a team player, holding immense regard for every senior colleague in the party. Decisions concerning party affairs and state strategy, he maintained, will continue to be executed through consensus rather than unilateral directives.
Expressing deep appreciation toward the national leadership, Singh extended his gratitude to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, K. C. Venugopal, and Punjab Congress in-charge Sachin Pilot. He pledged to devote his complete energy toward consolidating the grassroots organisation and serving public interests across Punjab.
Electoral Readiness and Chief Ministerial Projection
Discussing the party's electoral readiness in Punjab, Pargat Singh expressed strong confidence in the collective strength of his team. Remarking on political competitors, he claimed that rival political groups would struggle to withstand Congress's united front for even 15 to 20 minutes once the campaign accelerates, adding that the organization has ample preparation time ahead.
When questioned about the potential projection of a Chief Ministerial face, Singh dismissed the matter as a non-issue. He assured that all prominent stakeholders will receive complete dignity, be seated at the forefront of the campaign, and play an integral role in major strategic determinations.
Continuity and Regard for Predecessor Amarinder Singh Raja Warring
Addressing the transition from outgoing state chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Pargat Singh commended Warring's contribution over a tenure spanning roughly four to five years. He characterized organizational role changes as a standard rotational process within institutional politics, noting that leadership assignments naturally evolve over time.
Singh clarified that there is no division or animosity between the leaders, describing Warring as a prized contributor to the collective unit. Emphasizing mutual trust and respect across the hierarchy, he stated that the primary objective and unbroken concentration of the entire state leadership remains solely the progress of Punjab.
