The 70th state-level school girls football championship officially got underway in Jhalawar today. District Collector Ajay Singh Rathore hoisted the flag at the local Rajkiya Sankul Stadium to inaugurate the 17-19 years age group state-level football tournament. Talented young female athletes from across the state have gathered at the venue to showcase their sporting prowess in this prestigious competition.
Administrative Flaws And Lapses On Day One
However, the very first day of the opening ceremony exposed administrative lapses and poor management on the part of the education department. Invited guests and dignitaries arrived at the venue more than an hour and a quarter behind schedule. As a result, participating girl players representing teams from various districts across Rajasthan were left stranded and exhausted under the blazing sun in the open sports ground.
Education department officials paid little attention to the hardships faced by the waiting athletes on the field. It was only after a delay of roughly an hour and a half from the scheduled time that the invited dignitaries finally reached the venue, allowing the inauguration proceedings to officially commence. This considerable delay caused significant discomfort to the young players gathered under challenging weather conditions.
Collector Administered Sportsmanship Oath
Overcoming the initial mismanagement, District Collector Ajay Singh Rathore formally inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest. He hoisted the flag, made the formal announcement of the competition, administered the oath of sportsmanship to all participating players, and accepted the salute during the march past by the teams. Addressing the athletes from the grounds, District Collector Ajay Singh Rathore encouraged every player to step onto the field with utmost enthusiasm, passion, and complete honesty.
He urged them to put in their absolute best performance to win their matches while also winning the hearts of the local residents before heading back home. The collector emphasized that getting the opportunity to host such a prestigious state-level tournament is a matter of immense pride for the entire Jhalawar district. He noted that competitive sports help build character and foster unity among youth across different regions.
Exploring Jhalawar Heritage And Culture
Expanding on his address, the district collector encouraged the visiting players to look beyond just the matches. He called upon all athletes to take time out from their sporting schedule to visit Jhalawar's historical landmarks and natural tourist spots. He suggested that players should familiarize themselves with the region's rich cultural heritage so they can carry wonderful memories of the district back to their hometowns.
A massive participation has been recorded for this tournament, with more than 80 teams representing 41 districts and 2 sports academies from across the state. Approximately 1400 talented girl players will display their skills and talent throughout the course of this competition. The mega-event is being organized under the joint auspices of PM Shri Rajkiya Uchcha Madhyamik Vidyalaya Durgpura, the education department, and the district administration.
A large number of dignitaries and local citizens were present at the venue to witness the opening ceremony. The event was graced by the presence of Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar, Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer SD Meena, and Chief District Education Officer Ram Singh Meena. Alongside them, numerous education department officials, dedicated physical training instructors, and a large gathering of sports enthusiasts and citizens filled the stands.
