New Delhi: Northern Railway recently organized the OHE Skill Excellence Competition 2026, where the Ambala Division clinched the top spot to be declared the overall winner. According to Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, the Lucknow Division secured the position of first runner-up, while the Delhi Division was named the second runner-up. The tournament was conducted throughout September 2026 across all 84 OHE depots under Northern Railway with the core objective of boosting technical proficiency in overhead equipment maintenance and breakdown restoration.
The competition placed strong emphasis on critical overhead equipment tasks that are vital for day-to-day railway operations. Participants were tested on key procedures including contact and catenary wire splicing, bracket and stay-arm insulator replacement, along with cantilever and ATD replacement. Mastering these technical operations is essential for ensuring that train services run safely and without any interruption across the network.
Depots and Staff Showcase High Enthusiasm
All OHE depots and frontline field staff participated in the event with remarkable enthusiasm, utilizing the platform to sharpen their practical skills and foster stronger teamwork. The initiative allowed workers to observe, share, and adopt best practices from one another, creating a collaborative learning environment across different divisions. The grand finale of the OHE Skill Excellence Competition 2026 was graced by Rajesh Kumar Pandey, General Manager of Northern Railway.
During the closing ceremony, the General Manager presented trophies and medals to the winning and runner-up divisional teams. Railway officials noted that this proactive initiative highlights Northern Railway's unwavering commitment to operational safety, technical excellence, and the continuous skill development of its frontline workforce.

The felicitation ceremony took place at the Electric Loco Shed in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where General Manager Rajesh Kumar Pandey honored the skilled winners of the competition.
