A Trusted Son-in-Law Robbed His In-Laws' Trunk of 22 Lakh in Bikaner, but Police Cracked the Case Fast

A case from Rajasthan's Bikaner district has cast a shadow over the trust that family bonds are built on. In the Khajuwala police station area, a son-in-law turned on the very household that welcomed him and made off with around 22 lakh rupees kept in the home's trunk. The home that handed him its trust ended up betrayed by its own insider. Police, however, wasted little time and unravelled the entire conspiracy.

According to Khajuwala SHO Surendra Prajapat, the affected family had filed a report saying 22 lakh rupees in cash had been stolen from the trunk in their house. At first it looked like an ordinary theft, but as police pieced together the leads using technical inputs and informers, the needle of suspicion stopped at the family's own son-in-law.

The Son-in-Law Had Scouted Everything

The investigation revealed that the accused son-in-law, Sohanlal, knew exactly where and how the large sum was kept in the house. He had carefully scouted his in-laws' home before the crime and waited for the right moment. That familiarity and trust became his biggest weapons.

Sohanlal did not act alone. He brought in two accomplices, Boota Singh of 20BD and Dulichand Nayak. The three of them planned the whole thing together and, the moment they got an opening, targeted the trunk and cleaned out all the money inside.

A Special Team Closed In

Given the seriousness of the case, a special team of Khajuwala police was formed under the direction of Bikaner Superintendent of Police Mridul Kachhawa. The team moved swiftly with a raid and arrested the main accused, son-in-law Sohanlal, along with his two accomplices, Boota Singh and Dulichand Nayak.

Police recovered 13 lakh 35 thousand rupees in cash from the accused out of the stolen amount. The three are now being questioned closely to trace the rest of the money and to learn exactly how the crime was carried out.

A Bond Under Question

The incident has struck hard at the son-in-law and in-law relationship that society treats as deeply trusted. When the very son-in-law a family cherishes and entrusts with its wealth turns into the insider who brings the house down, who is an ordinary person supposed to trust? Police promptness put the accused behind bars, but the betrayal has left the affected family in deep emotional shock.

What this means for you

  • Across India: The case is a reminder that keeping large amounts of cash at home and letting close relatives know its location can be risky, so big sums are safer in a bank or secure place.
  • In Bikaner: For people in the Khajuwala area, it is reassuring that police quickly caught all three accused and recovered 13 lakh 35 thousand rupees.
