A disturbing case of alleged police misconduct has emerged from the Marwar Junction police station area in Rajasthan's Pali district, where a police outpost incharge has been accused of misbehaving with citizens under the influence of alcohol. The incharge of Banta police outpost reportedly assaulted an innocent family and behaved indecently with women and children. This incident took place on the road connecting Panchetia and Banta villages, sparking widespread outrage across the rural belt and prompting locals to approach higher authorities for stringent legal action.
Dispute on the Road and Allegations of Assault
According to the written complaint and statements given by local villagers, the outpost incharge engaged in an unnecessary argument with a regular family while travelling along the Panchetia-Banta stretch. Eyewitnesses alleged that the police officer was in an inebriated state at the time. The altercation escalated rapidly as the officer allegedly lost his temper and began thrashing members of the family right in the middle of the road, while also manhandling women and children who tried to intervene.
Passersby who noticed the commotion on the road attempted to mediate and defuse the escalating tension. However, the outpost incharge, allegedly impaired by alcohol, refused to pay heed to anyone present. News of the public altercation spread rapidly to nearby villages within minutes, prompting a massive crowd of residents to converge at the spot and intensify the confrontation.
Uniform and ID Card Discarded in Bushes Amid Public Fury
Sensing the mounting anger of the gathering crowd and realizing the gravity of the situation, the outpost incharge allegedly panicked. Eyewitnesses claimed that in a bid to conceal his identity and escape the wrath of the furious villagers, the officer removed his official uniform. He reportedly hurled both the uniform and his police identity card into nearby thorny bushes before managing to flee from the scene under the cover of confusion.
Following his escape, agitated locals inspected the vehicle linked to the officer at the spot. Villagers claimed to have discovered both sealed and empty liquor bottles inside the car. However, an official confirmation regarding the recovery of these suspicious items and the exact sequence of events will only be determined once the formal departmental inquiry concludes.
Superintendent of Police Orders In-Depth Probe
Directly following the incident, the aggrieved family accompanied by a large delegation of villagers met the Superintendent of Police (SP) and other senior district police officials. They lodged a formal written complaint naming two individuals, including the Banta outpost incharge. The petition demands strict punitive action, citing criminal assault, disorderly conduct under intoxication, and severe abuse of official authority.
Recognizing the severity of the allegations and their potential damage to the reputation of the police force, the Superintendent of Police ordered an immediate, thorough, and impartial inquiry into the entire incident. Senior police officers are now tasked with inspecting the scene, recording statements from eyewitnesses, and analyzing all available physical evidence to establish the factual truth and initiate appropriate disciplinary and legal steps.
