Voters and Candidate Breakdown
A total of 13,153 voters will exercise their franchise in the Bijolia municipal elections. Across the 25 wards, 106 candidates are in the fray, which includes 25 candidates each from the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. Additionally, the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party has fielded 3 candidates, the Aam Aadmi Party has 1 candidate, and 52 independent candidates are also fiercely contesting the election.
Intense Battles Between Relatives
The presence of strong independent candidates in about half a dozen wards has turned several races into three-way contests. In Ward 19, a triangular fight features a sister-in-law and her brother's sister facing each other, where Laxmi Devi Solanki is contesting on a ticket from the Bharatiya Janata Party while her own sister-in-law Pinki Devi is standing as an independent candidate. Meanwhile, Ward 17 features a four-way contest where a pair of sisters-in-law are pitted against one another, with Leela Devi Joshi running as the Congress candidate while her husband's brother's wife Asha Devi Joshi is contesting on a ticket from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
