In a major departure from past trends, the Congress party has emerged as the single largest entity by capturing 37 seats, dealing a significant blow to the Bharatiya Janata Party in what was long regarded as its unassailable stronghold. However, because Congress remains four seats short of the magic majority mark, the responsibility of determining which party controls the municipal board and appoints the next mayor has fallen entirely on 11 newly elected independent councillors.

Out of the total 80 municipal wards in Ajmer, reaching the threshold of 41 seats is mandatory to form a majority board. Congress mounted a strong performance to secure 37 wards, finishing just short of absolute control. The BJP trailed behind with 32 seats, failing to reach the midpoint despite extensive campaign efforts. The outcome was rendered particularly dynamic by 11 independent candidates who secured victories in their respective wards. Because neither major party can reach the required 41 seats independently, both BJP and Congress have entered an intense negotiation phase to win the backing of these non-aligned representatives.

Despite their established influence, the party managed to convert only 32 wards.
