Rajasthan is known for its diverse culinary traditions, and while Karauli has many spots to buy paan, the flavour offered at Kanha Paan Bhandar near Purani Sabzi Mandi stands out as entirely unique. The special rasgulla paan prepared here enjoys massive popularity among locals and visitors alike. People often gather in large crowds late into the night just to experience its distinct taste. In fact, customers frequently have to wait in queues for half an hour to a full hour for their turn. The fame of this delicacy extends far beyond Karauli, drawing fans from major urban centres such as Jaipur and Delhi who travel specifically to try it.
Quality Leaves And A Carefully Guarded Recipe
The defining characteristic of this signature rasgulla paan is its sweet, delectable flavour profile that mirrors a traditional rasgulla. Its generous physical size makes it impossible to consume in a single bite, prompting enthusiasts to carefully divide it into two halves to enjoy comfortably. Prepared continuously over the past 15 years, this creation utilizes premium paan leaves sourced from Masalpur in Karauli, a region celebrated for cultivating leaves of exceptional quality and taste.
Decades Of Tradition And Diverse Varieties
Shop owner Kanha Singh shared that the venture was originally launched by his brother approximately 27 years ago, and he has personally managed the daily operations for the last 25 years. The establishment offers around 20 different varieties of paan, with the rasgulla paan remaining the undisputed star attraction. It is crafted using a secret recipe that delivers an authentic rasgulla-like experience the moment it is tasted. On normal days, the shop sells over 200 paans, but during festive occasions and the wedding season, demand multiplies by two to three times. Pricing at the shop ranges affordably from 20 rupees to 80 rupees.
Customer Loyalty And Warm Hospitality
Regular patrons including advocate Anshuman Singh Jadoun and Abhishek Sharma note that the taste of the paan served here is unlike anything else found across the city. Another customer, Vipul Chaturvedi, points out that alongside the incredible flavour, the welcoming and friendly nature of the operator brothers plays a huge role in drawing people back. During the festive season, visitors can be found enjoying these sweet and savoury flavours as late as 1 o'clock in the night.
