Police in the Deeg district of Rajasthan have launched a major law enforcement drive against cyber criminals, arresting 45 suspected fraudsters within a 48-hour timeframe. Executed under the direct guidance of Superintendent of Police Sharan Gopinath K. (IPS), the special initiative named 'Operation Countdown' targeted multiple locations across the district. During these coordinated raids, officers seized a substantial inventory of electronic devices and fraudulent telecom cards used for online financial scams. Official details indicate that over the past 5 months, district police have placed nearly 1,000 cyber fraudsters behind bars as part of an ongoing crackdown on digital crime.
Zero-Tolerance Policy and Nighttime Raids
The intense crackdown follows the implementation of a strict 'Zero Tolerance' policy against cybercrime in the district, which officially commenced on August 16. As part of this strategy, Superintendent of Police Sharan Gopinath K. (IPS) ordered police stations across Deeg to form specialized teams and execute synchronized night raids on identified hideouts. The sudden overnight operations completely disrupted the operational networks of local cyber gangs. Over the course of the 48-hour operation, officers recovered 26 mobile phones, 49 fake SIM cards, and 2 motorcycles from the custody of the arrested individuals.
Targeted Raids Across Police Station Jurisdictions
Multiple police units conducted simultaneous raids across designated targets in the district. The largest single operation took place under the Jurhara police station jurisdiction, where officers caught 20 individuals red-handed while they were actively carrying out fraudulent online activities during the night. In addition, officers from the Kaman police station arrested 7 fraudsters, while the Sikri police station team apprehended 6 suspects. Meanwhile, the Kaithwada police station unit arrested 5 criminals, recovering 1 motorcycle and 6 fake SIM cards from their possession.
Sextortion Racket Busted and Additional Arrests
The operation also scored a key success against extortion networks operating via digital channels. Officers from the Gopalgarh police station busted a sextortion racket, arresting 3 key operatives who lured victims using video calls and subsequently blackmailed them. These individuals operated using fake SIM cards to target citizens across India, and 5 fraudulent SIM cards were seized from them. Furthermore, the Jaluki police station arrested 2 cyber fraudsters, while the Deeg Kotwali police station apprehended 2 additional suspects, bringing the total number of arrests under Operation Countdown to 45.
