Rural connectivity across Sikar district is set to receive a major infrastructural boost with the introduction of modern concrete roads designed alongside integrated drainage facilities. The Public Works Department has issued administrative and financial sanctions for constructing 12 rural roads spanning 12 villages under the state's Atal Pragati Path scheme. With a cumulative budgetary allocation of approximately 24 crore rupees, the project will cover a total road length of 16.2 kilometers. Beyond facilitating smoother vehicular transit, the initiative aims to solve long-standing monsoon waterlogging issues through concurrent drain construction.
Project Specifications and Structural Guidelines
Under the financial framework of the initiative, individual road projects have been capped at a maximum spending limit of 2 crore rupees each. All 12 thoroughfares will be laid as heavy-duty cement concrete structures possessing a standard width of 7 meters. A key feature of the design involves building reinforced side drains simultaneously with the road surface. By preventing rainwater from accumulating on the bitumen or concrete layer, the engineering plan protects the road structure against erosion while ensuring uninterrupted movement during heavy rains.
Statewide Allocation and District Share
The development stems from a state budget declaration targeting villages with populations exceeding 5,000 residents for comprehensive infrastructure upgrades. Across Rajasthan, financial approvals amounting to 381.91 crore rupees have been granted for 192 rural roads. Within Sikar district, 12 villages were identified for the current phase. Geographically, Neem Ka Thana block secured the largest proportion with 6 sanctioned roads, followed by Dantaramgarh block with 4 villages. Shrimadhopur and Laxmangarh blocks have been allocated 1 road each.
Village-Wise Breakdown in Neem Ka Thana Region
The highest concentration of funding has been directed toward Neem Ka Thana and its surrounding belts. Specific road lengths sanctioned include a 1.50-kilometer stretch in Thoi village and a 1.10-kilometer section extending from Fakirpura Colony in Raiwasa. Additionally, road construction will take place in Bay across 1.10 kilometers, Manda across 1.30 kilometers, and Kochhor over 1.20 kilometers. These key arterial links will streamline travel between neighboring agricultural communities.
Road Allocations in Other Sub-Divisions
The remaining projects span several prominent villages across the district. In Guhala, Gaonri, Ganeshwar, and Raipur Patan, individual road stretches of 1.50 kilometers each have been approved. Roads measuring 1.40 kilometers in Jilo and 1.30 kilometers in Chala will also be constructed. In Laxmangarh block, Bathoth village will receive a 1.30-kilometer segment. PWD authorities emphasized that construction work will strictly adhere to prescribed quality standards regarding concrete composition, street width, and drainage gradients.
Provision for Illumination and Municipal Governance
To further enhance safety and modern amenities in rural hubs, the project allows for the installation of streetlights along the newly laid corridors. However, this facility requires explicit consent from the respective Gram Panchayat. Local village councils must formally agree to cover recurring electricity charges and handle routine maintenance of the lighting infrastructure. By strengthening weak links in rural transportation networks, the project will improve access to district centers and markets once ground work commences shortly.
