A total of 23 students at a government school located in Puniya Devri, Kota, suddenly fell ill after consuming the mid-day meal served on Monday. Shortly after finishing their meal, the children began complaining of vomiting, diarrhea, and dizziness. The sudden mass illness triggered widespread panic among the school administration and local residents. School authorities, along with family members, rushed the affected children to the Medical College Hospital, where doctors immediately initiated medical treatment.
Parents Demand Impartial Inquiry
Upon receiving news of the incident, anxious parents and villagers rushed to the hospital. Expressing deep concern, families questioned the quality of the nutritional meals provided at the institution and demanded an independent investigation into the matter. However, authorities noted that the exact cause behind the sudden illness will only be confirmed once the official laboratory test reports of the food samples are released.
Education Minister Orders Probe
Taking serious note of the situation, Education Minister Madan Dilawar instructed officials to conduct a thorough inquiry into the entire episode. He personally contacted the hospital administration over the phone to check on the children's condition, emphasizing that no laxity should be permitted in their medical care. Furthermore, the minister directed officials to collect food samples for quality testing and stated that strict action would be taken to fix responsibility if any shortcomings in the meal are found. Education department officials also visited the hospital to monitor the children's recovery.
Om Birla and Local Leaders Review Health Status
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also spoke with hospital authorities to gather updates on the children's health and issued necessary directives. Meanwhile, a delegation of party workers led by BJP leader Badri Gochar visited the hospital to meet the young patients and their families. At present, the condition of the children admitted to the hospital is reported to be stable and improving. Administration officials have collected samples of the food for analysis, and the pending test report will clarify whether the outbreak was caused by poor meal quality or another factor.
