Renowned international gold artisan Dr. Iqbal Sakka from Udaipur has once again astonished observers with his remarkable craftsmanship. On the auspicious occasions of Barah Wafat and Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, he has built the world's smallest models of the holy sites of Mecca and Medina. These creations measure a mere one millimeter in size, making them comparable to a single grain of green gram. They are virtually impossible to view with the naked eye, requiring a microscopic lens to properly examine their intricate details.
Intricate Gold and Silver Architecture
Demonstrating exceptional precision, Dr. Sakka has constructed an extraordinarily small model of the Kaaba using gold. This miniature version incorporates the minarets of the Kaaba along with a golden door. The structure is set against a backdrop of black velvet, for which the artisan personally designed a special black garment. When viewed through a lens, the model replicates the authentic appearance of the revered sanctuary with striking accuracy.
Incorporation of the Heavenly Stone in Medina
According to the artisan, the eastern wall of the door of Mecca houses the heavenly stone known as Hajar al-Aswad. Keeping this tradition in mind, he integrated a symbolic representation of the sacred stone onto the silver door of his miniature model. This was achieved by delicately cutting a tiny stone brought from Saudi Arabia and setting it securely within a silver frame, a fine detail visible only under magnification. Additionally, he completed a one-millimeter model of Medina featuring minarets and a characteristic green dome. A tiny window has been sculpted above the Khizra dome, bringing the entire model close to the true likeness of Masjid an-Nabawi.
A Message of Bilateral Friendship
These dual masterpieces also convey a message of strong diplomatic ties between India and the host nation. The displays feature both the Indian tricolor and the national flag of Saudi Arabia. The Saudi banner bears the Islamic declaration of faith written in Arabic script. Dr. Iqbal Sakka intends to present these precious creations on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians to the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman. To facilitate this, he has dispatched official letters to the ambassador at the Saudi Embassy in New Delhi as well as directly to the Prime Minister.
Time and Materials Invested
Fabricating these silver and gold miniatures required approximately seven days of painstaking labor. The creation utilized roughly two grams of silver and 100 milligrams of gold, cementing the project as a remarkable feat of micro-art.
