Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a day-long visit to Rajasthan and Gujarat, kicking off the day in Jodhpur before heading to the Pachpadra area of Balotra district and later flying on to Sanand in Gujarat. The trip brings together a new airport terminal, a revamped regional flight scheme, a giant refinery project, metro expansion and a semiconductor factory, all packed into a single Saturday itinerary.
Jodhpur gets a new terminal and a revived UDAN scheme
The Prime Minister's programme began around 10:45 am at Jodhpur, where he inaugurated the airport's new terminal building. At the same time, he launched the revised version of the UDAN regional connectivity scheme, aimed at making air travel more accessible.
Rs 1.06 lakh crore worth of projects for Pachpadra
By around 12:15 pm, the Prime Minister arrived at Pachpadra in Balotra district, where he inaugurated, dedicated to the nation, or laid the foundation stone for development projects worth roughly Rs 1.06 lakh crore. The list includes India's first greenfield refinery-cum-petrochemical complex, the second phase of the Jaipur Metro, and a string of railway, road, solar power and electricity transmission schemes. He also addressed a large public gathering at the venue.
