A severe incident occurred on Friday morning around 11 AM in the Landmark City area under the jurisdiction of the Kunhadi police station in Kota, Rajasthan. A 17-year-old female student, who had moved to the coaching hub to prepare for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), fell from the second floor of a residential building. During the descent, the teenager struck an active 11 kV high-tension overhead power line. The impact snapped the electric cable instantly, which crucially prevented the student from suffering a fatal electric shock. However, hitting the hard ground caused a fracture in her leg alongside multiple physical injuries. Local residents swiftly gathered at the spot and transported the injured teenager to a nearby medical facility for urgent care, where doctors currently report her condition to be stable.
Police Initiate Probe Into Landmark City Incident
The injured student hails from the state of Bihar and had arrived in Kota approximately two months ago to join a coaching institute for medical entrance preparations. Following the incident, a video recording capturing the moment of her fall began circulating, prompting the police team to inspect the location and secure evidence. Authorities are examining whether the student accidentally lost her balance near the balcony or took a deliberate leap from the structure.
Station House Officer Devesh Bhardwaj confirmed that the student first made contact with the 11 kV power cable before crashing onto the street. The officer explained that the snapping of the electrical line prevented potential electrocution during the collision. According to the police official, the student received immediate emergency treatment, and her vital parameters remain stable under medical supervision. Law enforcement personnel have contacted her family members and are gathering statements from eyewitnesses as well as building caretakers to establish the exact sequence of events.
Previous Tragedy Involving JEE Aspirant in June
The safety and well-being of outstation candidates residing in Kota have drawn heightened focus due to prior incidents in the city's student localities. Earlier in June, a 17-year-old student preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) died by suicide in the Rajiv Gandhi Nagar neighborhood of Kota. The deceased teenager was identified as Aryan Ojha, a native of Sant Kabir Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh. He had been residing in a Paying Guest (PG) facility in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar since February while enrolled at a local coaching institute.
On the night of June 3, at around 10:45 PM, fellow hostel inmates discovered the teenager hanging from a ceiling fan inside his room and promptly alerted the police department. Deputy Superintendent of Police Yogesh Sharma stated that the student was quickly moved to a healthcare center, where medical officers pronounced him dead on arrival. With no suicide note recovered from the premises, the underlying causes behind his fatal decision remained undetermined. Investigating officers in the latest Landmark City case are assessing all physical evidence and environmental safety factors to complete their inquiry.
