The government of Rajasthan is operating the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana, also known as the Sahyog Evam Upahar Yojana, to provide financial assistance for the marriages of daughters belonging to economically weaker and needy families across the state. The primary objective of this welfare initiative is to offer monetary support to BPL, Antyodaya, widowed, specially-abled, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and minority families so they can solemnize their daughters' weddings without facing severe financial distress.
Scope of Financial Assistance Provided Under the Scheme
Under this scheme, eligible families receive direct financial assistance ranging from Rs 21,000 to Rs 51,000 credited straight into their bank accounts on the auspicious occasion of their daughter's wedding. To date, more than 33,321 families across the state have directly benefited from this welfare program, bringing substantial relief to underprivileged households.
Category-Wise Breakdown of Assistance Amount
According to the rules set by the government, the distribution of financial aid is divided based on the family's social category and the educational qualification of the bride. General category BPL, Antyodaya, widowed, and specially-abled families receive a base assistance amount of Rs 21,000. Meanwhile, BPL families belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and minority communities are entitled to a base assistance amount of Rs 31,000.
Additional Educational Incentive for Brides
To promote the education of daughters, the state government also provides additional financial incentives. If the bride has passed the 10th standard, an additional assistance of Rs 10,000 is added to the base amount. Furthermore, if the bride is a graduate, an additional assistance of Rs 20,000 is granted. With these educational qualifications factored in, eligible beneficiaries can receive a maximum total financial assistance of up to Rs 51,000.
Eligibility Criteria and Conditions
To avail the benefits of the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana, applicants must fulfill several mandatory conditions. The applicant family must be a permanent and native resident of Rajasthan. At the time of the wedding, the minimum age of the bride must be 18 years, while the groom must be at least 21 years old. Additionally, the total annual income of the family must not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. This benefit is restricted to a maximum of two daughters per family.
Required Documents and Application Process
Applicants need specific documents for identification and address verification, including a Jan Aadhaar card, Aadhaar card, and Rajasthan domicile certificate. To establish eligibility, documents such as a BPL card, Antyodaya card, widow or specially-abled certificate, or caste certificate must be provided. Age and marriage proofs, including birth certificates or 10th-grade marksheets along with a marriage registration certificate, are also required. Notably, applications must be submitted within 1 year of the wedding. Other requirements include educational qualification marksheets and the applicant's bank account details. To apply for this scheme, applicants can submit their forms online through the official E-Mitra portal or the Raj SSO portal of the Government of Rajasthan under the Social Justice and Empowerment Department.
