A major burglary took place in Mangalam Vihar colony under the Sagwara police station jurisdiction in Dungarpur district, where unidentified thieves broke the locks of seven locked houses in a single night. This brazen crime has raised serious questions over the nocturnal patrolling arrangements of the local police and created an atmosphere of panic across the entire neighborhood. The unknown miscreants carried out the entire operation between two and four in the morning.
Families were away for Raksha Bandhan
According to available details, Mangalam Vihar colony resident Sripal Ninama along with six other families had locked their houses and traveled out of town to celebrate the Raksha Bandhan festival. Taking advantage of the fact that most houses in the colony were vacant during the night, the unknown perpetrators targeted them systematically, breaking locks one after another to gain entry.
Cupboards ransacked and belongings scattered
Once inside, the culprits searched the wardrobes and other storage units placed in the rooms. Cupboard locks were found broken at multiple spots, while garments and household articles were strewn across the floors. The thieves cleared out gold and silver ornaments along with cash reserves and other valuable goods kept inside. The affected families stated that the stolen items run into lakhs of rupees in value.
