Nagaur's JLN Hospital has introduced a series of administrative reforms aimed at eliminating the long waiting hours traditionally faced by patients and their relatives. With an increase in both registration desks and specialized staff, the hospital is working to streamline outpatient department (OPD) registration and the processing of the Chief Minister Ayushman Arogya Yojana. These updates are designed to manage daily patient footfall more efficiently and ensure a hassle-free experience.
Expansion of Registration Desks to Reduce Queue Lengths
Previously, patients at the JLN Hospital had to wait in long queues due to the limited number of registration desks. The facility operated only two OPD registration counters, which often led to severe crowding, particularly during peak morning hours. To address this issue, the hospital management has added a third counter. This additional desk is expected to distribute the crowd better, reducing the time patients spend waiting for their prescription slips before they can consult a doctor.
In tandem with the increased number of counters, a new queue management system has been established. The hospital has created separate, dedicated queues for male, female, and senior citizen patients. By dividing the visitors into these designated lines, the administration aims to prevent chaotic crowding at the counters. Senior citizens, in particular, will benefit from this targeted arrangement, as they will no longer have to stand for extended periods alongside the general crowd to obtain their OPD slips.
Strengthening Manpower for the Chief Minister Ayushman Arogya Yojana
Along with OPD reforms, the hospital has deployed more workforce to speed up operations related to the Chief Minister Ayushman Arogya Yojana, commonly known as the MA Yojana. Processing documents, verifying patient identities, and filing claims under this state health insurance program often created bottlenecks. To resolve this, the administration has increased the number of dedicated operators to eight. These operators will focus on registering patients, handling required documentation, and managing the claims process.
The overall team tasked with executing the scheme has been expanded to 16 members. This team includes four operators who are already stationed in the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) wing. Additionally, the hospital has pulled in four nursing staff members, split equally with two assigned to the main JLN Hospital and two to the MCH wing. This combined workforce of 16 professionals forms a specialized unit dedicated solely to managing the administrative workload of the health scheme, ensuring that patients receive timely benefits.
Increased Funding as a Direct Result of Faster Claim Processing
The administration's focus is not only on improving patient convenience but also on ensuring that medical insurance claims are filed and processed without delay. Faster documentation has directly translated into a significant rise in the funds received by the hospital. In July, the hospital secured approximately 40 lakh rupees through these claims. Following the initial adjustments, this figure rose to around 65 lakh rupees in August. Encouraged by this upward trajectory, the hospital administration has set a target to secure 80 lakh rupees in funding for the month of September.
According to hospital officials, the growth in these funds will be reinvested directly into improving the facility's infrastructure and public amenities. By speeding up the workflow from the initial OPD registration to the final insurance claim, the hospital is building a sustainable cycle of administrative efficiency and financial growth. This comprehensive approach is expected to save valuable time for patients and their accompanying family members, making public healthcare in Nagaur much more accessible and patient-friendly.
