Police in the Nagaur district of Rajasthan have uncovered a major illegal synthetic drug manufacturing network, seizing finished narcotics and chemical precursors with an estimated international market value exceeding 100 crore rupees. According to law enforcement officials, the key accused, identified as 28-year-old Mahaveer, quit his job to chase fast wealth and converted rented residential houses into a clandestine drug laboratory. Utilizing information gathered from online searches, Mahaveer attempted to synthesize MDMA until a coordinated police raid exposed the entire illegal operation.
Transition from Regular Employment to Illegal Laboratory
According to investigators, Mahaveer originally belongs to Laxmanpura in the Kuchera area of Nagaur and had recently been residing in Deep Colony within Nagaur town. He was previously employed in a regular job but expressed dissatisfaction with his income. Driven by the ambition to make rapid financial gains, he resigned from his job in February 2026. However, forensic analysis and initial questioning revealed that his attempts to synthesize MDMA had already commenced between December 2025 and January 2026.
His initial manufacturing experiments were unsuccessful. To overcome these setbacks, Mahaveer turned to online resources, studying chemical reactions, temperature control, and processing techniques. Once he acquired sufficient theoretical understanding, he began purchasing necessary raw materials, industrial glass containers, and laboratory apparatus from various markets.
Industrial Setup Discovered Inside Rented Houses
The scale of equipment recovered during the police raids indicated that the setup was far more advanced than a simple storage depot. Law enforcement teams operating across multiple rented facilities in Deep Colony and Jodhpur Road recovered specialized equipment, including an industrial mixing machine, digital thermometers, magnetic stirrers, pH meters, laboratory glass beakers, large glass jars, heavy-duty plastic pans, and extensive metal plates used for drying wet chemical compounds.
The presence of precise measuring devices like pH meters and digital thermometers confirmed that Mahaveer was conducting structured chemical reactions to refine MDMA. By operating inside ordinary residential rented properties, he sought to maintain low visibility and avoid triggering suspicion among local residents and neighborhood watch groups.
The August 10 Raid and Second Location Discovery
The investigation reached a decisive breakthrough on August 10, 2026, when the District Special Team (DST) of Nagaur Police received targeted intelligence regarding illicit activities in Deep Colony. Police officers executed a surprise raid at the residential location, taking Mahaveer into custody. Preliminary searches yielded contraband and chemical supplies initially valued at over 20 crore rupees.
Subsequent interrogation of the suspect and technical analysis of his electronic devices pointed officers toward a secondary storage and production facility on Jodhpur Road. A secondary task force raided the Jodhpur Road premises, bringing to light the full extent of the clandestine manufacturing hub.
Seizure of 100 Crore Rupees Worth of MDMA and Chemicals
At the Jodhpur Road premises, officers recovered 5.418 kilograms of high-grade finished MDMA. In addition to the pure narcotic substance, the team seized 2.744 kilograms of caffeine powder, 24 distinct types of industrial and specialty chemicals, and approximately 210 liters of liquid chemical solutions. Narcotics experts and law enforcement agencies evaluated the total international market worth of the seized drugs and precursor chemicals at over 100 crore rupees.
Caffeine powder is frequently used as a cutting agent by drug syndicates to bulk up synthetic narcotics before distribution. The recovery of such large quantities of caffeine and liquid precursors confirms that the lab was preparing for large-scale commercial distribution across regional markets. Authorities are now tracing the supply chain to identify where the raw chemicals were manufactured and shipped from.
12 SIM Cards and Evasion Tactics
Technical investigation into Mahaveer's communication methods revealed deliberate evasion strategies designed to bypass law enforcement monitoring. Police discovered that Mahaveer maintained between 10 to 12 mobile SIM cards simultaneously. To prevent call detail records (CDR) and cell tower tracking from linking him to chemical suppliers, he routinely discarded active SIM cards roughly every 10 days.
Cyber cell experts are currently conducting detailed forensic extraction on all identified phone numbers, IP logs, and messaging applications used by the suspect. Investigators aim to map out every digital footprint to identify the suppliers of controlled precursor chemicals and the prospective buyers lined up for the final product.
Probe Into Four Associates and Supply Networks
The scope of the investigation has expanded beyond Mahaveer's individual actions. Interrogation records and digital evidence have implicated four associates whose roles are currently under active scrutiny by Nagaur Police. Task forces have been deployed to verify the extent of their involvement in logistics, equipment procurement, and funding.
Police priorities center on three major objectives: tracking the interstate sources that supplied restricted industrial chemicals, determining how laboratory-grade equipment was procured without regulatory flags, and uncovering the distribution channels intended for the manufactured MDMA.
