In Madhoganj village and surrounding areas within Tonk district, a complete lack of mobile network coverage has pushed residents to the edge. Frustrated by prolonged connectivity issues, angry villagers have now declared a decisive boycott of the upcoming panchayat elections.
Growing Anger Over Administrative Apathy
Faced with continuous neglect from the telecom department and local authorities, residents of Madhoganj have united under one banner. Led by farmer leader Ratan Khokhar, a large gathering of farmers, youth, and villagers staged a fierce protest in the village, raising slogans of no network, no vote. Protesters highlighted that nearly a month ago, they had submitted a formal memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister of Rajasthan and the Union Telecom Minister through the District Collector of Tonk. The memorandum specifically demanded the immediate installation of a new mobile tower and a permanent fix for the connectivity crisis, but despite a full month passing, the administration has failed to take any concrete action.
Every Sector Paralyzed By Digital Failure
The total absence of mobile signals has brought all development in the village to a grinding halt, affecting every single section of society. Residents are forced to bear the heavy brunt of this digital isolation in their daily lives, impacting education, agriculture, and essential services alike.
Struggles Faced By Farmers And Students
Farmers in the village are struggling to receive essential One-Time Passwords required for online applications linked to government welfare schemes, crop insurance, and agricultural subsidies. Due to the failure in receiving OTPs, vital paperwork remains stalled. At the same time, the education of local students and youth has been severely disrupted. Without internet access, online classes and preparations for competitive exams cannot proceed.
Banking And E-Mitra Services Disrupted
Essential public services at local E-Mitra centers, including the issuance of caste certificates and pension-related work, have come to a standstill. Furthermore, all online banking transactions and digital payments are severely hampered, causing immense inconvenience to villagers who must now travel elsewhere just to complete basic financial tasks.
A Clear Ultimatum On Voting
Deprived of a basic utility like mobile connectivity in the modern digital era, the villagers have issued a stern warning that they will refuse to cast their votes in any upcoming election until a new mobile tower is installed and the network issue is permanently resolved. All eyes are now on the district administration and telecom authorities to see when they will finally take cognizance of this grave issue and provide relief to the affected population.
