In a major crackdown against illegal weapons, the local police station and the District Special Team achieved significant success by conducting a targeted raid in Pratapgarh. The joint operation led law enforcement to a farmhouse situated in Akhepura village, where a large cache of ammunition was successfully uncovered. During the search, authorities recovered a total of 90 cartridges meant for a 12-bore gun. Police arrested a resident of Akhepura named Shoyel Khan in connection with the seizure. A formal case under the Arms Act has been registered against the apprehended individual, and investigators are currently questioning him to unearth the origin of the cartridges and the specific reasons for concealing them at the farmhouse.
Strategic Raid Based on Informant Input
The entire operation was set into motion following specific intelligence provided by a confidential informant. According to law enforcement officials, a tip-off indicated that Shoyel Khan, son of Intkhab alias Maulana, had illegally stored 12-bore gun cartridges at a farmhouse located near a cemetery in Akhepura. Taking the information with utmost seriousness, a combined team from the Pratapgarh police station and the DST rushed to the location to execute the raid. Upon the arrival of the police party, an individual present at the farmhouse attempted to flee the premises. Alert personnel quickly coordinated a perimeter sweep and apprehended the fleeing suspect. When interrogated about his identity, he confirmed his name as Shoyel Khan, a resident of Akhepura. Police noted that when questioned regarding his sudden attempt to escape, he failed to provide any satisfactory explanation, prompting authorities to order a thorough search of the farmhouse grounds.
Cartridges Discovered Underneath a Tarpaulin
During the meticulous search of the property, the police team noticed a discarded tarpaulin lying beneath a tree. Upon lifting the covering, officers discovered four separate cardboard boxes neatly tucked underneath. An on-site inspection of these containers revealed that they were packed with 12-bore ammunition. According to the police breakdown, two of the boxes contained 25 cartridges each, while the remaining two boxes held 20 cartridges each, bringing the cumulative total to 90 recovered cartridges. Authorities promptly seized the entire ammunition stock and placed the suspect under formal arrest.
Criminal Background of the Family and Ongoing Probe
Police records indicate that the family of the arrested accused has an extensive criminal history in the region. Shoyel Khan's father, Intkhab alias Maulana, is a listed history-sheeter at the Pratapgarh police station, with numerous serious criminal cases registered against him involving murder, robbery, the Arms Act, and illegal narcotics. Investigators are currently interrogating the accused to determine where the ammunition was sourced from, what purpose it was intended to serve at the farmhouse, and whether any other accomplices were involved in the operation. Law enforcement is examining all dimensions of the case to dismantle any wider illicit network operating in the area.
