State-run healthcare institutions across Rajasthan have updated their operational hours with the implementation of the winter outpatient department (OPD) schedule starting October 1. Patients seeking medical consultations at public healthcare facilities, including the SMS Hospital in Jaipur and other state hospitals across Rajasthan, will now receive care under the revised schedule. On regular weekdays, doctor consultations will operate from 9 AM to 3 PM. Under the previous arrangement, morning clinics commenced at 8 AM, meaning the winter routine shifts the start time forward by exactly one hour.
Registration Timings and Healthcare Facility Coverage
According to the updated timetable, patient registration counters will begin operations at 8:30 AM each working day. Following the registration window, physicians will begin consultations in their respective outpatient clinics at 9 AM and continue attending to patients until 3 PM. The revised schedule covers the entire public medical framework throughout Rajasthan. This includes medical college-affiliated referral hospitals, district hospitals, sub-district hospitals, satellite medical centers, Community Health Centers (CHCs), and Primary Health Centers (PHCs).
Two-Hour Clinic Windows for Sundays and Official Holidays
The winter routine maintains dedicated outpatient coverage during weekends and official holidays. On Sundays and gazetted public holidays, outpatient clinics will operate for a two-hour window between 9 AM and 11 AM to cater to people requiring medical evaluation. The health department has instructed hospital administrations to ensure all functional preparations align with the adjusted hours. Medical superintendents and administrative heads must supervise doctor availability, streamline registration queues, and organize pharmacy services to match the winter schedule seamlessly.
Timeline Operational Through March 2027
The newly enforced winter timetable is scheduled to remain in effect from October 1, 2026, until March 31, 2027. Once this six-month period concludes, public medical facilities will revert to the summer OPD schedule. Large healthcare hubs like the SMS Hospital in Jaipur handle heavy daily footfall from across Rajasthan, making schedule adherence crucial for visiting families. Patients accustomed to arriving in the early morning hours will need to recalibrate their travel and consultation plans to match the later opening times.
Directives on Public Information and Smooth Management
To prevent confusion among the public, the health department has directed hospital administrations to keep patient convenience at the forefront. Hospitals are required to display the revised operating hours, registration timings, and holiday consultation details prominently at registration desks, entrance gates, and waiting zones. Administrative staff are focused on raising awareness so that visitors, particularly those arriving from rural locations, can access healthcare services without unexpected delays or logistical complications.
