A gruesome case has surfaced from Agwana Khurd village under the Surajgarh police station area of Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district, where a man allegedly killed his wife and hid her body inside a trunk kept at home. Acting on a tip off, police rushed to the spot, opened the trunk and recovered the woman's body. News of the killing sent shockwaves through the village, with a large crowd of residents gathering at the scene.
Body found stuffed in trunk, hands tied
Surajgarh station house officer Ramsingh Yadav said police received information that a woman's body was lying inside a trunk at the house of Krishna Kumar Jat, a resident of Agwana Khurd. Acting on this, a police team reached the spot without delay and searched the house. During the search, the woman's body was recovered from a trunk kept inside the home, and she turned out to be none other than Krishna Kumar's wife, Kamla. Initial examination suggests the body was around two to three days old. Police said Kamla's hands were found tied. The team carried out a detailed inspection of the scene and collected the necessary evidence, before bringing the body to hospital still inside the trunk, from where it was taken into custody and sent for a post mortem. Police have also detained the accused husband, Krishna Kumar, and begun questioning him.
Dispute over money for alcohol turned deadly
Preliminary questioning revealed that Krishna Kumar and Kamla were married in 2009. According to police, on the day of the incident Krishna Kumar asked his wife Kamla for money to buy alcohol, which she refused to give him. The refusal triggered an argument between the two that soon escalated. It is alleged that an enraged Krishna Kumar killed his wife and then hid her body inside the trunk at home to conceal the crime. He reportedly kept the killing hidden for two to three days. The matter came to light only when neighbours noticed Kamla was missing for several days, growing suspicious enough to alert the Surajgarh police station.
Further action to depend on post mortem and forensic evidence
SHO Ramsingh Yadav said the post mortem will be conducted at Surajgarh CHC, and the exact cause of death will be confirmed only once the report is available. Police are probing the case from every angle. Further legal action will be decided based on the post mortem report, FSL evidence and findings from the interrogation of the accused. Kamla's maternal family has also been informed of the incident.
