Today's news highlights from Rajasthan include a major road accident reported in Didwana. A severe collision occurred between a trailer and a pickup truck near the Kalwani intersection. This incident resulted in 14 people traveling in the pickup suffering injuries. Upon receiving reports of the accident, officials arranged for the victims to be transported to the district hospital using 108 ambulances and private vehicles. Additional SP Himanshu Sharma and IPS Ritu Kumari inspected the site of the crash before visiting the hospital to monitor the condition of the injured. Cranes were used to clear the damaged vehicles from the road to resume normal traffic. The passengers were reportedly returning from a 'Put Phere' ceremony, traveling from Kuchaman toward Jaswantgarh when the mishap occurred.
Jodhpur Airport Terminal Operations Commenced
The new terminal at Jodhpur Airport is now operational for the general public after pending formalities were cleared. The opening of this facility is expected to facilitate new flight connections to cities including Chennai, Goa, Indore, and Kolkata. The first flight is scheduled to arrive at the new terminal from Bengaluru on Sunday at 8.45 am, with a return flight to Bengaluru departing at 9.20 am. It is worth noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the facility on July 4. The new terminal covers an area of 37 acres and is approximately six times larger than the previous facility.
Teacher Recruitment Exam and Tragic Discovery in Bundi
In Bundi, the senior teacher recruitment examination is commencing today. The exams are scheduled to take place from July 12 to July 17. A total of 6,668 candidates are expected to appear for the tests, which will be held in two shifts across 18 designated exam centers. Meanwhile, a tragic incident has emerged from the Maniya police station area. The body of a government teacher was discovered floating in the Parvati River near the Randoli causeway. Villagers alerted the police, who recovered the body and placed it in the mortuary of Maniya Hospital. The deceased has been identified as Shivshankar, a resident of Sahajpur who was employed at a school in Shahpura. Reports indicate he was returning home after teaching students at the school. The police are currently conducting a detailed investigation into the matter.
