Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh conducted a series of key official meetings with senior Union Cabinet members in New Delhi on Wednesday. During his visit to the national capital, the Chief Minister met Union Minister of Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju at his official residence to address vital developmental priorities and minority welfare programs across the state.
Focus on Minority Welfare and Development Initiatives
The dialogue between Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju centered on enhancing developmental projects spearheaded by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs in Manipur. According to an official statement released by the Manipur Chief Minister's Office, Khemchand Singh formally requested Central assistance to accelerate welfare programs aimed at minority communities in the state. Responding to the request, Kiren Rijiju assured the Manipur Chief Minister of comprehensive assistance from his ministry to foster all-round progress.
The Union Minister, who represents neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh, maintains close ties with Manipur. Beyond developmental agendas, both leaders deliberated on strategic matters concerning the Manipur Assembly elections, which are scheduled to take place early next year.
Meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah
Prior to his engagement with Kiren Rijiju, Chief Minister Khemchand Singh held a high-level meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi earlier in the day. During their discussion, Amit Shah reassured the Manipur Chief Minister that the Central government remains committed to fulfilling the aspirations and developmental needs of the state's citizens.
A major highlight of the meeting with the Union Home Minister was the plan for infrastructure enhancement in the healthcare sector. Amit Shah agreed to lay the foundation stone for a new medical college in Senapati district during his upcoming proposed visit to Manipur.
