Rajasthan Weather Update: Relief from heat as rains and thunderstorms hit Churu, Alwar, and Jaipur

After a period of intense heat, weather patterns have shifted across Rajasthan. According to TrendKia, the IMD reports significant rainfall and drops in temperature across several districts.

A Shift in Rajasthan Weather Patterns

Rajasthan is experiencing a significant shift in weather as the intense heat and humidity begin to subside, providing much-needed relief to residents. According to TrendKia, the IMD’s meteorological center in Jaipur reports that relative humidity in the state has climbed to between 35 and 75 percent. This increase in moisture, fueled by a newly active weather system, has brought cloud cover to both eastern and western regions of the state. Forecasters expect thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall in the coming days, which will effectively put an end to the ongoing heatwave and cause a noticeable drop in maximum temperatures.

Significant Rainfall in Churu and Alwar

Churu district has seen the most dramatic change, recording 46 mm of rainfall over the last 24 hours. This heavy precipitation and accompanying storms have caused the minimum temperature in Churu to drop 5.0 degrees Celsius below normal, reaching 23.6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature sits at 37.0 degrees Celsius, which is 4.6 degrees below average. Meanwhile, Alwar recorded the highest temperature in the state at 40.2 degrees Celsius. However, following a change in weather after midday, 17 mm of rain was recorded there as well. The IMD expects further temperature drops in Alwar over the next 24 to 48 hours as showers continue.

Updates from Bikaner and Jaipur

Western Rajasthan is also seeing a weather U-turn, with Bikaner recording 0.4 mm of rain following a period of strong dust storms. Bikaner’s minimum temperature fell 5.0 degrees Celsius below normal to 24.4 degrees Celsius, while the maximum reached 37.6 degrees Celsius. In the capital city of Jaipur and the historic tourist area of Amer, the weather has become quite pleasant. Jaipur recorded 0.1 mm of light rain, with a minimum temperature of 27.6 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 37.0 degrees Celsius. The IMD predicts that the skies over Jaipur and its surrounding districts will remain partially cloudy for the next two days.
